The 2010 Territorial Broomball Championships have come to a successful close and this year proved once again that there are some phenominal broomball players in the Northwest Territories.

 

Thank you to the Organizing Committee, the Referees, the Scorekeepers, the participants and the fans that supported their teams!  Congratulations to all the teams for the outstanding games and good sportsmanship.  The Champions are listed below.

The 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Ms. Jessica Latour of Hay River, NT for her Dedication & Contributions to the sport of Broomball in the Northwest Territories

 


The 2010 Territorial Broomball Championships will take place Feb 25-27th, 2010 in Yellowknife, NT at the YK Community Arena.

Teams competing in the Territorial Championships are as follows:

Registration Fees for the Mens & Womens division is $400 per team while the registration for Mixed Division is $550.00.  Paid team registration will include banquet tickets for each member of the team.  Sherry Connors will have the banquet tickets and will issue the tickets upon receipt of paid registration.  Some participants may be playing in more than one division but will only be entitled to one banquet ticket.

Tournament Information:

Zero tolerance for abuse towards officials – benches will be given one warning, then a bench minor will be assessed. 

Zero tolerance for fighting players will be evicted from the entire tournament (includes the banquet)

The Concession upstairs in the YKCA will be open during the Territorial Championship for the convenience of participants.

Round robin games:

Men’s and women’s divisions will be two 15 minute straight time periods, with the last 3 minutes stop time if 2 goal difference.

Mixed will be two 18 minute straight time periods with the last 3 minutes stop time if 2 goal difference.

There will be one 5 minute sudden death OT period. If no goals after OT, a tie will be awarded (CBF rules apply for tie breakers)

Playoff’s:

Men’s and women’s divisions will be two 15 minute straight time periods, with the last 3 minutes stop time if 2 goal difference.

Mixed will be two 18 minute straight time periods with the last 3 minutes stop time if 2 goal difference.

There will be one 5 minute sudden death OT period. Then teams will go to a shootout – 3 players in each round. Different players for each 3 player round. 

Winners of the mixed division ‘B’ side will receive t-shirts (no main trophy for B-Side). All other first place finishes will have names engraved on the divisional trophies, plus t-shirts. 

Prizes for each of the divisions: 
Men’s division, women’s division, mixed male and mixed female for Top Scorer, Forward, Defence, Goalie, Most Sportsmanlike and MVP. Only round robin games will be counted towards all of these awards.
